The Office of Student Assistance and Support works to connect students who are dealing with temporary and ongoing food insecurity with campus and community resources for long-term support, while providing them with funds that they can immediately use to purchase food on campus.
These funds will be given to a student in the amount of $75 via their Wiscard. All enrolled students who meet the criteria below are eligible to receive funds once per academic year. Students continuing to experience food insecurity may be eligible to receive additional funding from the program the following semester. These requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis along with other campus support resources
Criteria
- Student be enrolled in the current term in order to receive the funds or enrolled in the next academic period if between semesters
- Some circumstance related to food insecurity or unexpected life event
- Can be received once per academic year*

Defining Food Insecurity
Food insecurity is both what we traditionally think of as not having enough to eat (having to skip meals) and not having access to a nutritional and varied diet
Process
- Students can request Badger FARE by sending email to the Office of Student Assistance and Support. Please include your Campus ID in your initial email request
- You may need to meet with a staff member to discuss support options
If approved, Badger FARE will be added to student’s Wiscard and student will receive email follow up with information and resources will be provided
